The Soul War

The Soul War is an achievement contest where your achievements are tracked and ranked separately for each month, and you can win special medals and set new records for the achievements you get. Each family can also work together to win medals for their family. The contest starts over each month, but you keep and accumulate all medals that you win for past contests that you participated in, and you can view your stats for all previous contests. The achievements you get still count towards your all-time achievement counts, it's just that they are also tracked separately for the Soul War contest. So, you can continue striving to accumulate achievements in the same way you always have, The Soul War just gives you new goals, rankings, and rewards to strive for in addition to those achievements. All of these goals and their associated rules are described below.
Soul War Goals
Win Medals
You can win medals by getting a certain number of achievements to a certain level, or by helping your clan get certain numbers of achievements to a certain level. If you help your clan get certain medals, you can win additional medals. Most medals award as soon as the criteria is met (or within a few minutes), and one medal is awarded at the end of the month (Sabre Cat Tooth). See if you can collect all of the medals on your individual profile, and for your family! For more information on medals, see the Medals section, below.
Get The Record!
There are two sub-badges you can get on your achievement badges for the Soul War. Currently, you can get a gold crown for having the world record for any achievement, and you can get a silver crown for getting the daily record at some point in the past. In the Soul War, you can get a gold medal for having the world record for any achievement (most in any month ever), or a silver medal for having the highest in a given month at some point in the past. So, the gold medal means no one has ever gotten more than you in a single month, and the silver medal means that you have the record for at least one month in the past.

Compete on Individual Achievements
The achievement stats pages show the ranking not only for all time, but for the current Soul War. It will also show past records for each achievement, and show who has the current Soul War world record. Can you be world champion?
Additional Soul War Guidelines and Things to Note
- Currently, all-time (as opposed to daily) achievements, you can only run through once. That is, once you get Blood River to Level 5, you can't start over and get it to Level 5 again, because it counts your all-time total, and you can only get to 250 once. In the Soul War, your count on all-time achievements starts over each month. So, you can get to Level 5 on Blood River once per month, and any achievements will ALSO be added to your all-time total. For example, say you already have Level 1 on Blood River for getting 10 instances of the achievement. Then, you get 15 more in a given month, your overall achievement will go to Level 2 for having a total of 25, and you will have +1 Level 1 for that Soul War month for having 15.
- Currently, when you get achievements, your current family also gets credit for those achievements in the family achievement ranking. But, if you switch families, all of your achievements go with you. This is not true for the Soul War. All achievements you get count for the family you are in when you get the achievement. So, if you leave your family, they will lose your regular achievement counts in the overall family ranking, but they will keep the achievements you made for that month's Soul War ranking.
- If your family becomes disbanded through the leader setting the family name back to Curse or merging the family into another family by the leader setting someone else as their liege, then the existing family becomes defunct. The Soul War achievements gained so far will still count for the defunct family and will still be ranked, but any additional achievements will count for the new family. If you want to change family leaders in the middle of the month, please make sure that you use the change leader function on the website, and all of your Soul War achievements will be maintained. Do not use the old method of changing the family name, having the old leader liege to the new leader, and changing the name back. If you do this, it will be considered a new family, and you'll be starting over for Soul War achievements.
- Not all of the achievements count for the Soul War because of how they are measured. In general, achievements that can vary over time, such as collecting achievements, can't count for the Soul War. The achievements that don't count for the Soul War are:
- Soul Keeper Achievements
- Vial Collecting
- Texture Collecting
- Soul Trophy Collecting
- Determined / Relentless
- All-time attacks (Ravenous)
- 30-day Rolling Hunting Totals (Reaver / Warrior)
- Some achievements count for the soul war, but don't count for medals. The achievements that don't count for medals are:
- Scanning Achievements: Detective 2 / Investigator 2
- Haunt-visiting Achievements: Voyager 2 / World Travels 2
- Soul Trading (Soul Trafficker / Soul Trader)
- Sending Metrics (Benefactor / Patron)
- NEW: As of the release of the new Angel / Demon achievements, there is a limit of four attack (Frenzy and Berserk) achievements that count towards medals. There are now eight total frenzy and berserk achievements, they all count for the Soul War, but at most four will count towards any given medal. This is to keep the number of frenzy / berserk achievements that can be used for medals consistent.
